SNUB23 BRIGHTON GARDEN MURAL COMMISSION

It’s been so great to start off the new decade with two fantastic different garden graffiti murals in Sussex. The first being for a wonderful couple in Brighton Gordon and Allyson and their lovely dog Tilly. They had seen our graffiti and street art pieces around Brighton as well as our previous garden commissions online and had totally fallen in love.

They have a beautiful house and the garden was the one last pieces of the puzzle to be completed and we were happy to help make their dreams come true. Before we started we paid them a visit discussed what the client loved about our work, their desired colour palette and some ideas about how we could create a unique piece of art which also interacted with their garden space. We all agreed that a really great idea would be for the top of the wall to be painted a sky blue to give the illusion of the cubes floating off into the sky. As soon as we got back to the studio we were so excited to get started on a design.

As well as a computer generated design based on the dimensions of the wall we also created a colour sample for Gordon and Allyson so they could see how the colours would appear in real life. Tilly the dog was especially happy with how the colour sample turned out!

Once everything was confirmed with the colour and design all we had to do was wait for some sunshine so we could get our spray cans out. Which was harder than we expected especially with storm Ciara and Dennis looming over us.

The first day was spent repairing and priming the wall before we could even think of applying spray paint. Working whenever we can in between breaks in the storms we finally completed the wall in 3 days. The piece was particularly challenging as we had to work around different curves, steps and platforms in the wall. We tried to make a seamless design which would make the wall appear to be one flat surface.

As you can see from the pictures below it was quite a the transformation from the original wall. We feel so lucky to have got the chance to paint our artwork in such a prominent space in someones home and bring so much joy to a couple. Thank you so much Gordon and Allyson for being such fantastic clients.

Thank you for transforming our dank, gloomy courtyard into a jewel of glittering colours - it’s more fabulous than we ever imagined it could be!

It was really a pleasure having you painting here - you’re so super clean, tidy and well organised - and seeing you create the work has been a joy in itself.
