Chromatic refers to the properties of colour and light, most notably in chromatic aberration, an optical failure where a lens fails to focus all colours (wavelengths) at the same point. Caused by dispersion, this results in blurred images or colour fringes, as shorter wavelengths (blue) bend more than longer ones.
